Manchester United have made English footballing history after being dumped out of the Champions      League - but for all the wrong reasons.

After a cagey 70 minutes, Kingsley Coman broke the deadlock with a tidy finish past Andre Onana.

In truth, United never really got out of the blocks, with Bayern more than happy to sit back and            absorb the pressure, having already secured top spot in Group A.

And the Old Trafford outfit have made some unfortunate history in the process.

Besides Erik ten Hag's exit from the competition, the result makes United the first English side in           history to concede 15 goals in the Champions League group stage.

On the other hand, United scored 12 goals in the process, the same amount as table-topping Bayern        Munich.

But their leaky defence proved to be the achilles heel of the club's European campaign, as the pressure    increases on Ten Hag.

In the end, even if United had got the victory over Bayern, they still wouldn't have made it into the        knockout rounds due to FC Copenhagen's 1-0 victory over Galatasatray.
