Kylian Mbappe’s future is not directly linked to PSG’s Champions League participation, but a “last opportunity” to join Real Madrid is approaching.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

L’Equipe claims that is not the case, with the World Cup-winning France international set to take a number of factors into consideration before deciding what his immediate and long-term future holds. There are said to be no guarantees that Paris Saint-Germain exiting the Champions League would mean Mbappe doing likewise at Parc des Princes.

DID YOU KNOW?

PSG are still hoping that Mbappe can be talked into penning fresh terms. While he has not taken up an extension option, a completely new contract is in the pipeline. That deal would be considerably longer than the two-year one that was agreed back in May 2022.

WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?

While there is a chance that Mbappe will agree to remain in the French capital, he is also aware that Real Madrid continue to monitor his situation. Signing another new contract in Paris would end the Blancos’ interest in securing his signature, with a big decision needing to be made on whether the 24-year-old wants to chase down more silverware in his homeland or down in Spain.
